In 2007 the South Jersey Healthcare (SJH) Environmental Services Department was tasked to create and implement a successful recycling throughout the organization's network of medical centers, clinics, and outpatient facilities. As a direct result of the new recycling program and employee education, in 2008 SJH reduced the amount of material sent to the landfill by 100 tons in one year and increased the amount of paper recovered for recycling by approximately 91 percent.
