Recovery of Old Newspapers/Mechanical Papers

Total recovery of newsprint/mechanical papers* declined by 6.3 percent in 2016. However, new supply of these grades (domestic production plus imports less exports) declined by an even more substantial 7.0 percent, which caused the recovery rate for newsprint/mechanical papers to increase from 71.6 percent in 2015 to 72.2 percent in 2016.
